A gas leak Thursday near a Manhattan house of worship is now under control.
The incident happened just after 8 p.m. near the Tribeca Synagogue on White Street between Church Street and Franklin Place.
Fire officials say around 50 people were evacuated.
"I walked in about two hours prior to the apartment and it actually smelled like gas throughout the street,” said one observer.
“It's quite impressive how many trucks are here and ambulances and rescue teams so it's a bit worrying but it looks like it’s okay," said another passerby.
Fire officials say no injuries have been reported.
