Seven years after Gates teen Brittanee Drexel vanished while on a spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, the FBI, along with South Carolina law enforcement, will hold a news conference to update the case.
Investigators in South Carolina announced they'll be meeting Wednesday afternoon to discuss the latest developments. Brittanee was 17-years-old when she went missing in South Carolina.
She hasn't been seen since she left a hotel after visiting friends.
Drexel would be in her mid-20s by now. Law enforcement held multiple searches of the area, but hadn't turned up any results. Brittanee's mother Dawn Drexel told us she has retained an attorney. She would not say why.
She said she was blind-sided by news of next week's briefing and that she has no idea what it's about.
The FBI has not released specifics about the development it'll be discussing Wednesday.
Time Warner Cable News reporter, Seth Voorhees will be at that news conference and will provide us updates from South Carolina. We will carry that event live Wednesday at 1 p.m.
