NYPD Deputy Chief Caught up in FBI Probe Reassigned in Staten Island

A Staten Island police officer involved in the FBI’s corruption investigation was placed on modified duty Wednesday.

The NYPD says Deputy Chief John Sprague was reassigned to an administration position.

The 25-year veteran was promoted in March.

Investigators are looking into the NYPD's gun licensing department and whether bribes were accepted.

Five officers involved in the probe filed for retirement and several others were transferred.
