ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -- A hiker died in the Adirondacks over the weekend.
Investigators said 37-year old JoAnna Restko was at Roaring Brook Falls in Essex County taking a hike with her friend Saturday afternoon. Restko was trying to take pictures by the top of the falls, when she fell more than 80 feet, hitting the rock wall as she fell. The woman landed face down in a pool of water at the base of the falls.
Restko was a paramedic and lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department. Her death was ruled accidental from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.
In March a 12-year-old was killed by a falling boulder while hiking near Roaring Brook Falls.
