An NYPD officer wounded in a hatchet attack nearly two years ago received the department's highest honor Tuesday.

Officer Kenneth Healey and three fellow officers were awarded the Medal of Honor at the department's medal day ceremony in Manhattan.

The officers were attacked by Zale Thompson on Jamaica Avenue in Queens back in October 2014.

Thompson struck Healey in the head with a hatchet, and hit Officer Joseph Meeker in the arm.

Thompson was shot and killed by two other officers at the scene.

Healey needed several surgeries to repair his shattered skull, but returned to active duty last December.
