SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse firefighters make quick work of a fire in a high-rise apartment complex.

Crews responded to Jefferson Towers a little after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said the fire was contained to an apartment on the ninth floor. They said high-rises like this pose some unique challenges for firefighters.

"It takes longer to get there, we can't use the elevators all the way to the fire floor, we have to make sure that everybody's safe. And just because of the type of building it is, there usually are more people in the buildings," said Kent Young, Syracuse First Deputy Fire Chief.

No one was hurt in the fire and the cause is under investigation.
