JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. -- The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation into a crash that killed a 4-year-old girl earlier this month.
On May 8, officials responded to East Maine Road in Johnson City for two-car crash.
They say 32-year-old Thomas Steyer of Binghamton was driving in the wrong lane for an unknown reason.
Detectives say 17-year-old Jontay Card saw Steyer and took evasive maneuvers to avoid a head-on crash.
However, Steyer's car hit the rear passenger side of Card's car, where 4-year-old Samrya Oakley was a passenger. Samrya died at the scene.
Steyer was found at fault, and issued 11 tickets for reckless driving as well as failing to keep right and speeding.
No criminal charges have been filed.
