UTICA, N.Y. -- Before the event even started, Uticans were lining up outside City Hall for an upcoming film's casting call.

"We the Animals," is based on the best-selling novel.

Filming will take place in Utica in the coming months.

The city's film and television coordinator says more than 100 people showed up at the beginning of the casting.

"I'm glad they do because you know, the more the merrier," Utica Film and Television Coordinator Paul Puckley said. "So we're gonna try to make this a little film mecca."

"Everything just seemed to fit into place," Street Casting Coordinator Marlena Skrobe said. "We looked in a few areas but we found a house that was a right fit for the film and the story and so once we found the house, it kind of fell into place."

"We the Animals" is an independent film with Sundance Film Festival.
