Volunteers who contracted illnesses at the World Trade Center site in the year after the September 11th terror attacks will continue getting medical care.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says $9 million in state budget money will go towards those who helped in the rescue, recovery and cleanup.

The funds will cover lost wages and health care expenses.

Officials say many volunteers developed health conditions linked to the toxic dust and debris.

The World Trade Center Fund has covered nearly 1,900 people to date.
