One way to make sure the bedbugs don't bite is to avoid certain colors in the bedroom.
A new study finds the insects are attracted to certain colors more than others. It turns out the bugs really like dark red and black and aren't so into dazzling white and bright yellow.
Researchers figured that out by putting bedbugs in petri dishes containing little tents made of different colored paper. The bugs gravitated toward the darker tents instead of the white, yellow or green ones. Scientists say sunny-colored suitcases, or those with hard exteriors, could help prevent bedbugs from hitching a ride home with you and fewer than 1 percent of hotels and motels probably have bed bugs.
