CATSKILL, N.Y. -- It's a sight that evokes a powerful feeling of nostalgia.

Most of us have images like these, and home videos like these, and many more memories of summers at the Catskill Game Farm. Now, it's being given a new life.

"Not going to be a zoo," said Cathy Ballone, owner of "The Old Game Farm."

Cathy and her husband Ben bought the property back in 2012.

"Adventure is in our nature ... Probably if someone else bought it, they would demolish everything, so we saw it as a good stepping stone for life," said Ballone.

After 10 years of being closed, bringing back the animals was out of the question, but to the delight of history buffs everywhere, the Ballones had a plan.

"We want to keep as many trees as possible. We want to keep as much of the original infrastructure as possible, so we shouldn't touch much," said Ballone.

The place may look a little different, but if you want to revisit the old site, you do have an opportunity to do so.

"We have about 20 people a day show up in our parking lot every day," said Ballone.

If you are also feeling up for an adventure, the Ballones offer self-guided tours of the property. All they ask is that you call ahead.

"I've gotten letters from as far away as Paris and Korea that they came here as children and they appreciate what we are doing," said Ballone.

And although the days of being chased by a hungry goat are long gone, the chance to preserve the child in all of us is far from disappearing.
