CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- A sprint car driver is in guarded condition at Strong Hospital after he was involved in a crash at Canandaigua Motorsports Park's opening night.
The park says drivers Charlie Donk and Darryl Ruggles wrecked their sprint cars while racing. Racetrack officials say Donk suffered a broken sternum and dislocated shoulder among other injuries.
He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital where he remains in guarded condition. They say Ruggles was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
They say he's home, sore, and expected to make a full recovery.
