A familiar face in the University of Texas at Austin community for more than a decade, Ishmael Mohammed Jr., known to most people as "Junior" or "The Wendy's Guy," passed away this week, the Austin Chronicle reported.

He was 61.

From around 2000 to 2012, Junior was known for his quick, friendly service working at the Wendy's inside the Texas Union, even setting a record for fastest service.

In 2006, Junior became the subject of a short documentary (Watch it Below).

Then, he fell on hard times and ended up homeless.

A 2014 effort by UT alumni brought in enough money to help Junior get off the streets for a while.

Sadly, he was found unconscious last week at an Austin bus stop.

A medical examination showed bleeding in his brain.

According to his family, Junior died Monday.
