SAN ANTONIO - The wait for Fiesta is over. The 125th Anniversary of a beloved Alamo City tradition kicks off Thursday.

More than 100 Fiesta events will be held throughout San Antonio over 11 days.

The proceeds go to charity.

Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.

The event has evolved into San Antonio’s premier event, with an “economic impact of more than $284 million for the Alamo City,” according to Fiesta San Antonio’s website.

The Fiesta Commission is ready for another year of giving back.

"The 125th is so exciting because you know to be around this long celebrating the diverse culture of San Antonio, the rich tradition and the great spirit says a lot," said San Antonio Fiesta Commission President Vonzetta Hickman.
