AUSTIN—Ted Cruz is closing in on Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

After Super Saturday, Cruz is just 84 delegates behind Trump. The Texas Senator now has 300 delegates under his belt, closing in on Donald Trump's 384 delegates.

Marco Rubio has about half as many with 151.

“It's as much about how poorly Rubio did, I think as, you know whether Cruz did extraordinarily well, but certainly Cruz came out of the weekend looking pretty good,” said Jim Henson, of the Texas Politics Project.

Henson said if it turns into a two man race between Cruz and Trump, some Republicans could be in a tough spot.

"We're seeing elites if you will, and elected officials in the Republican Party encountering a moment of truth where they have to choice between a couple of choices, at least in the moment that they don't like,” he said.

Ohio Governor John Kasich is also still in the race with 37 delegates. It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican Party's Presidential nomination.
