David Cawton joined the Time Warner Cable News team in March as a Political Reporter. He comes to Austin from West Monroe, Louisiana and Little Rock, Arkansas where he covered a wide range of stories, including politics.

At KTVE in West Monroe, David started as the South Arkansas Bureau Reporter, eventually working his way up to Weekend Anchor and then Morning Anchor.  He covered the Duck Dynasty family, the 2014 mid-term elections and stories surrounding economic development.

During this time David was also working on his Master’s Degree from Quinnipiac University, where he studied Interactive Media.  After a short stint at  KARK in Little Rock, David stepped away to complete the last semester of his degree and to work on his Capstone.

He graduated in January, adding to his B.A. in Broadcast Communications from Jacksonville University.

A native of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, David is happy to be back in a big city and ready to tackle the complex political climate in the Texas Capital. Politics has always been a major interest for David, whose grandmother spent a majority of her adult life working in Florida's political scene.

In his spare time, you'll find him outdoors, probably enjoying one of Austin's many parks or enjoying some of great food we have to offer! He's a big Jacksonville Jaguars fan, who realizes he's outnumbered here in Texas!

David also brings along his Golden Retriever, Solar, who he says eats him out of house and home. She's sure to enjoy the many parks, and dog-friendly places in Austin.
