Local leaders and entrepreneurs spent some time with high school students Friday talking about the importance of STEM fields and how they relate to careers and starting new businesses. The event was held at Grover Cleveland High School as a part of Buffalo schools' STEM Entrepreneur Day.

Students met with elected leaders and Buffalo business professionals. The focus was on how students can use math, science and engineering to improve themselves and where they live.

"Being able to talk to students in this community saying, 'Yes, you can be an entrepreneur, too, and there a wide variety of ways of doing it,' and it's an inclusive element of what we're doing as a community," said John Gavigan, 43 North executive director.

Mayor Byron Brown was also on-hand and said events like this let students see what they can build and how to make the communities better.
