SAN ANTONIO - Volunteer registration is now open for San Antonio’s largest waterway cleanup.

Basura Bash takes place Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. The purpose of the event, now in its 21st year, is to keep San Antonio waterways clean.

Last year, more than 2,100 volunteers collected 45 tons of trash along the San Antonio River and from 18 creeks in the city. In addition to trash, 159 tires were collected as well as one ton of metal. Tires and metal were taken to recycling facilities.
