Students and teachers at World of Inquiry School Number 58 showed their solidarity with those fighting cancer by raising funds and shaving their hair.
Twelve participants took part in "Going Bald for Bucks"shaving and cutting their hair as a donation to cancer patients. The school raised more than $4,000 in total for the cause which will go toward cancer research and patient-care programs.
In 10 years, "Going Bald for Bucks" has raised nearly $4 million in Western New York.
"A small school, a small community can really make a huge difference. Every dollar that gets raised here that goes to cancer research can turn into a million dollar grant for researchers out at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. It also helps the kids that are at 1,330 Cancer Connect in the Wilmot Cancer Institute right here in Rochester," said Joshua Symer, Goin’ Bald for Bucks coordinator.
More than 85 schools and organizations across New York state participate in "Going Bald For Bucks" every year.
