LIVINGSTON, N.Y. -- The final two people accused of targeting elderly people in a hate crime ring have pleaded guilty.
Susan Barr, 58, of Altamont, and Brian Barr, 37, of Schenectady, pleaded guilty to grand larceny as a hate crime.
Police say in 2014, they, along with Jessica Paradiso, John Waterson, Henry Hicks and John Risto, targeted elderly victims in Albany, Bethletham and Colonie. Police say they targeted the victims based on their age and overcharged them for work such as driveway sealing, foundation work and roof repair.
Officials say along with overcharging, they also failed to do the work after being paid for it, stealing $40,000 from people.
Susan Barr faces two to four years in state prison when sentenced in March and Brian Barr faces 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison.
The other people charged in the case have all pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
