CLYDE, N.Y. -- Dozens of firefighters in Wayne County dealt with a significant fire in downtown Clyde overnight.
The call came in around 12:30 a.m. Monday for the fire in a three story apartment complex on Glasgow Street in Clyde.
The video above features a picture inside the restaurant on the ground floor of the building.
"They usually have what's called a party wall or fire wall between the buildings," said Tom Sawtelle, Clyde Code Enforcement Officer. "Nothing got to either side of the building so it did not spread to another structure, but that was a concern, it is a common concern with older downtown buildings. It could have been a lot worse."
Four apartments with a total of eight people living in them are affected.
Firefighter say all eight made it out safely and they are being helped by the Red Cross.
Investigators say the fire appears to have started on a second floor balcony, but they are still looking into the exact cause.
