Julian Castro was on the campaign trail over the weekend.
The former San Antonio mayor and current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development showed his support for Hillary Clinton.
He campaigned for the Democratic Presidential candidate in Nevada and Iowa.
Castro says Clinton's connection with the Latino and African American communities is genuine.
"She's been working hand in hand with those communities and so they see in her somebody who has been a true champion on issues that matter and fighting for them. That's why you're seeing such a big difference right now because she's an old and consistent friend of these communities," Castro said.
There is speculation that Castro will become Clinton's running mate.
Although the Clinton camp is remaining tight-lipped on a possible running mate, Castro is certainly showing solidarity with the Democratic presidential candidate.
"I know that Iowans take their policy and their politics very seriously, and the more they look at it I'm convinced the more they'll see that Hillary is the Democrat that really has been both fighting for the folks that all of us care about and what to make sure have a fair shot in America and also is actually able to produce results," Castro added.
On Saturday, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce endorsed him for Vice President.
