It was an emotional day in Albany County Court as a man who drove drunk and killed a woman over the summer was sentenced.

Kadeem Fowler will spend 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison. In July, he sped through several stop signs, hit another car at First Street and Henry Johnson Boulevard, and killed the driver, Amy Stock.

Fowler, who had a previous drunk driving conviction, pled guilty to a vehicular homicide charge in November.

He spoke during the sentencing hearing, as did several family members of Stock.

"I just want to continually say that I'm truly sorry for my actions that caused the death of Miss Stock. That's all," Fowler said.

"So what have we lost? A daughter who loved her big, loud, and bossy family, that at times would drive her nuts, but one that she would not trade for anything in the world. So what have we lost? A sister, who came for the day and stayed for a long weekend," said Charles Stock, the victim's brother.

The sentence was the maximum Fowler could have received under the law.
