CABARRUS COUNTY -- A Northwest Cabarrus High School student accused of making a verbal bomb threat at school is now facing child porn charges.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office charged Paul Warner with two counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor on Monday. The charges come just hours after Warner appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to making a verbal bomb threat in class on Friday.

Officials say Warner was sending and receiving pictures of child porn on his phone.

Last week, deputies say Warner stood up in class and said he had a bomb and mentioned ISIS. The school was evacuated for a short time.

Warner was charged with false report of a bomb and possessing a weapon on school property.

A student at the school who says he's known Warner. He describes Warner as quiet.

“People didn't really talk to him. I talked to him. I thought he was a nice person."

"When Paul was in class, he would lean his head against the hallways, ignoring everyone.”

Warner is being held in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond. His probable cause hearing is set for Feb. 1.
