It's just about time to haul that dried-up Christmas tree out of the living room.
But did you know it could live on by helping gardens grow?
Texas Disposal Systems will take Christmas trees and turn them into nutrient rich mulch and compost.
All you have to do is take your tree to a Texas Disposal System landfill or Garden-Ville store in Austin or San Antonio.
They also accept other organic holiday decorations like wreaths, holly and pumpkins.
"They just need to make sure the trees are clean with no ornaments, metals, anything like that on them, and then bring them out to the landfill and it will go through our composting division," said Stacy Schmitt of Texas Disposal Systems.
It's a free service, unless a stray ornament or light string still clings to the tree.
In that case there's a $45 drop off charge.
Trees are accepted through January 31.
