Six Fire De­part­ments Called to Fire at Shafer and Sons in West­moreland

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. -- An overnight fire caused significant damage to one Mohawk Valley business.

Crews were called out to Shafer and Sons in Westmoreland just before 2 a.m.

Six fire departments wound up assisting at the scene.  The Westmoreland Fire Chief says they spent about 40 minutes knocking down the flames inside one of the main buildings.

Shafer and Sons builds sheds and pole barns, and the chief says they've been in business a long time.

He says no one was there at the time of the fire, so they're still trying to determine how it started.
