CLEMMONS, N.C. -- The two remaining defendants in a notorious Clemmons murder case had a court date scheduled on Thursday. However, Amber Burch and Krystal Matlock didn't appear in Forsyth District Court.
Murder suspect Pazuzu Algarad was also due in court, but died on Wednesday from an apparent suicide.
Corrections officers at Central Prison in Raleigh say he was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after 3 a.m. in the morning and died about an hour later.
Algarad and the pair were charged last year in connection with skeletal remains found buried in the backyard of a Clemmons house, dubbed "the house of horrors."
The house also had a room with mummified animals.
Since the discovery, the Knob Hill Drive home has been demolished.
The hearing was an administrative hearing. The next is scheduled for early next year. Law enforcement turned in the rest of their discovery in the case last week.
The next step is to take the case to a grand jury.
The grand jury next meets on Nov. 11. A next court date has been set for Jan. 21 of next year.
