REI Will Opt Out Of Black Friday

NATIONAL - Shoppers won’t be able to get a good deal on outdoor equipment at REI on Black Friday.

The retailer said it's passing on Black Friday this year, and its 143 stores will be closed for business that day. 

REI said instead of working, it'll pay employees to be outside on Nov. 27.

It's creating the social media hashtag #OptOutside, and a website where people can share their outdoorsy plans for that day.
