CHAPEL HILL - Faculty members of the UNC assembly are speaking out as we inch closer to the announcement of a new system president.

University leaders are upset about their lack of involvement in the decision making process.

In a statement the UNC faculty assembly said in part:

“No student attends our campuses, no funding agency or organization provides grants or research support, and no business, governmental entity, or civic organization has come to our institutions seeking public service expertise, because of the teaching, research and service achievements of the board of governors or the president of the university. Yet the Board of Governors continues to act without the advice and counsel of the constituencies whose expertise they need to effectively govern the institution.”

The Board of Governors is expected to elect a new system president tomorrow.
