It may be the perfect Halloween surprise for your children over the next few weekends. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is hosting its "Zoo Boo" Halloween event beginning this weekend with plenty of treats and surprises. Brad Vivacqua has the details.

Over the next few weekends this may be the perfect treat for your kids.  In addition to getting into the Halloween spirit a little early, zoo officials say this will really give the kids a chance to see all of the animals -- including the new red panda cubs.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the next two Saturdays and Sundays the zoo will be filled with a "kooky not spooky" theme.

You're encouraged to dress the kids up in their costumes for a walk through the zoo to find live entertainment, costumed characters and some games. There will also be some trick or treat stations along with a fun inflatable activity center among other activities.

"We have creepy crawler encounters with some of our invertebrates and bugs, things like that. Snakes.  We also have keeper talks with some of our other animals so there's a chance to see the whole zoo, to experience the animals here, and just to have some Halloween fun in between," said Rosamond Gifford Zoo Public Relations Director Jaime Alvarez.

Admission to Zoo Boo is $8 per child plus the cost of zoo admission which is generally $4 for kids.
