PENDER COUNTY -- Pender EMS and Fire, Inc. staff will soon be better equipped to fight fires and save lives.
The company is being awarded a grant of roughly $1.5 million over a term of two years. The money will go toward hiring 17 new firefighters for the five paid fire stations in the county.
