MARBLE FALLS, Texas -- The Northside Independent School District is investigating after two John Jay High School football players hit a referee during the game.

The team from John Jay High School was playing Marble Falls High School in Marble Falls Friday night.

A video clip of the hit was posted on YouTube.

According to the video poster, the hit on the referee was apparently in retaliation for a "bad call."

The video shows one of the football players running into the back of the referee, who was watching a play.

Then another player dives into the official after he falls onto the field.

Both players were ejected from the game.

NISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez said NISD "will not tolerate this kind of behavior."

"The video that we saw is extremely disturbing. It is not the good sportsmanlike behavior that we teach students. We are in touch with and cooperating with the UIL in the investigation," he said in a statement.

Gonzalez said a due process hearing will be scheduled Tuesday, and it will include interviews with game officials, coaches and students.

Marble Falls defeated John Jay 15-9, but the player's unsportsmanlike actions dampened any celebrations after the game.

Marble Falls coach Matt Green said John Jay coach Gary Gutierrez came over to him and apologized after the game.
