ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester police have identified the man who was shot Saturday morning on Lyell Avenue.
Police say 28-year-old Damien Sawyer was taken to the hospital after he was shot in the upper body around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
He was taken into surgery and police say he is now listed in satisfactory condition.
Police say no one is in custody at this point.
They say it’s unclear whether this shooting was related to another that happened on Sunday evening just a block away.
In that case, 25-year-old Arsenio Johnson of Greece was shot in the lower body near Child Street. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for a wound police say is not life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing.
