There's a new place in Central New York for people to enjoy locally brewed beer. Local 315 Brewing Company in Camillus is open for business. Alana LaFlore has more on what you can expect when you visit the brewery.

CAMILLUS, N.Y. -- They lined up by the dozen for Local 315 Brewing Company's grand opening. With chocolate stout, cream ale and an IPA all pouring from the tasting room's 16 taps -- there was something for everyone.

"You can get a flight," said Josh Mersfelder, brewer at Local 315 Brewing Company. "Our flight glasses are five ounces each. You choose four for $7, or a pint is $6."

Crowlers and growlers are also sold for those who want to take home their favorite beer. They're made from hops grown on site at the brewery's farm. As their name suggests, they look to local sources for additional ingredients.

"We try and buy from other local farmers, like the rhubarbs and strawberries," said Mersfelder. "We source all our malt out of Rochester."

The brewery is family owned, and it's owners wanted to make it a  family-friendly experience. They did that by bringing in animals for kids to feed and pet.

"We have five sheep, five goats and a donkey," said Mersfelder. "That's why everything is brewed at a lower lever. Nothing too crazy. It gives a chance for you, if you can't get a sitter but you also want to hang out with your friends."

If the animals aren't enough, you can shop while sipping your beer.

"Local people we try to fund out of here," said Mersfelder. "Jams, crafts, peppers. We try to give back to the community and showcase other people's work."

And the brewing company won't let anyone go hungry, different food trucks and vendors will set up shop there.  There's still lots more in the works - like adding a small ice rink in the winter and selling meat and cheese plates -- from locally sourced farmers.

Want to check out the brewery for yourself? The Warners Road business is open Friday through Sunday. And they're expecting to add weekday hours soon.
