Con­t­a­m­i­nating trash at a recycle center forces county to shut down the site

HARNETT COUNTY, NC.- Recycling just got a little bit more difficult in Harnett County.

The recycling center near the Campbell University campus was closed permanently on Monday after trash was continually being dumped there.

Now, students and residents will have to drive a bit further to drop off their recyclables.

You can take your recycling to the Dunn-Erwin Landfill at 449 Daniel's Road in Dunn or the Anderson Creek Landfill on Poplar Drive in Spring Lake.

The hours of operation for both sites are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 7:30-4:00 pm, or on Wednesdays from 7:30 to noon.
