Welch Allyn's new owner has announced layoffs coming to the company.

Hill-Rom closed on its purchase of the Skaneateles Falls-based company earlier this week, and notified 50 employees Thursday that they will be let go.

Officials say that is about 4 percent of the local workforce.

In addition, 22 other employees accepted new positions or promotions.

In all, Hill Rom says 80 people will be let go globally, out of 2,500 total employees.
