A settlement has been reached in the defamation suit against Syracuse University head basketball coach Jim Boeheim and the school.
The suit stems from allegations of sexual abuse made against former assistant coach Bernie Fine that came to light back in 2011. Boeheim defended his longtime assistant coach at the time, claiming that the accusers Bobby Davis and Michael Lang were lying.
High-profile attorney Gloria Allred took the case for Davis and Lang, and have released statements saying the suit has been settled.
Details of the settlement were not announced.
"Coach Boeheim regrets that he made those statements and that he questioned the integrity of Bobby Davis and Michael Lang. Since then, he has publicly committed to focus his charitable efforts on providing assistance to victims of sexual abuse," the university said in a statement.
Davis and Lang in a statement said they are glad the case has been settled and go on to say, "We have always sought above all to ensure that those who suffer the kind of childhood sexual abuse that we did, feel unafraid to report it and to speak about it."
Bernie Fine never faced criminal charges, but was fired by Syracuse University.
