JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- A Chautauqua County toddler who was strangled to death last week will be laid to rest today.
People can pay their respects to 20-month-old Joshua Jock Jr.'s family during calling hours this morning and the funeral service will follow. Calling hours are scheduled for 10 am until noon and the funeral will begin at noon. It's all taking place at Hubert Funeral Home on South Main Street in Jamestown.
The Chautauqua County Distict Attorney said Jock was strangled to death at Paula Mason Reeves' "Little Racer's Daycare" in the town of Harmony last Monday.
A 14-year-old girl has been charged with manslaughter as a juvenile offender in the case. She was watching Jock at the time.
Jock's parents said their son was in the custody of Mason Reeves, who is his mother's aunt.
"I've mentioned it to lawyers and the courts and CPS workers about how she was when I was growing up. How she treated me and how she treated my family and I didn't feel safe that she would take care of my son like I would," said Whitney Whalen, Joshua's mother in an interview last week.
Whalen said she never thought she'd be planning a funeral for her son. Now, the family wants justice in his death.
