DURHAM- Five people are charged in connection to a double-kidnapping turned murder.

Durham County deputies say they were called to Glenn Road Monday night. They found two teenage girls shot. Dymond Fowler, 19, was dead but her friend survived by playing dead and then running to get help.

Three of the suspects appeared in court on Thursday.

Quashawn Slade is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon. The judge denied bond.

Brittany Lassiter is charged with murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy. The judge denied bond for her too.

"I know my granddaughter is not guilty. She's not that type of person," said Lassiter's grandmother, Rachel Jones.

Alezai Clay is charged with conspiracy and kidnapping. A judge set her bond at $1 million.

On Thursday, deputies said two more people were arrested. Jesus Arce is charged with conspiracy and kidnapping. Dominique Faulkner is charged with conspiracy and probation violation. They're expected to make their first court appearance on Friday.

Prosecutors haven't said if they would seek the death penalty.No information has been released as to whether or not the suspects knew each other or a motive for the crime.
