HOKE COUNTY – A Pinehurst man is charged in a wreck Monday that killed three people, including a former Robeson County Commissioner.
The Fayetteville Observer reports 31-year-old Matthew English is charged with DWI, driving left of center and careless and reckless driving.
Officer said he was likely impaired by drugs.
The crash happened on nc-211 near Poole Road in Raeford and Killed James Douglas Wellington, Joyce Wellington And John Thomas Wellington all from Lumberton.
John and Joyce Wellington were married, and James was John's son.
Robeson County’s Manager told The Robesonian he had been notified of Tommy Wellington’s death by the sheriff.
The commissioners are expected to acknowledge Wellington’s death during their meeting tonight.
