SAN ANTONIO -- The Alamo City has gone Bat Loco and the buzz has local agencies closing some streets.
The city's River Authority is getting ready to host an educational series about bats on the Museum Reach part of the River Walk.
Starting July 21, every Tuesday night near the Camden Street Bridge, crowds will learn a little more about the 50,000 Mexican Free-Tailed bats that call the bridge home.
The events start at 7:30 p.m., but because of all the rain and available food, this year the bats have started coming out later at night.
Interest in seeing them take flight has gotten so popular the city is making new traffic routes this year.
"Now we're getting to where the talks themselves are getting 500 to 700 people so we felt the need that this year we did have to close the streets for all of them so beginning July 21st we're inviting people to the museum reach segment and closing the intersection of Camden and Newell," Yviand Serbones with the San Antonio River Authority.
Once again, this intersection will be closed every Tuesday night until the Bat Loco Bash on August 11.
Bat watchers are asked to bring their own chairs to sit in the street.
