CHARLOTTE -- Aaron Irving on the air rifle team in the ROTC program at Ardrey Kell High School is a soon-to-be graduate and is now one of the best shooters in his age group in the country. He is even qualifying for the junior Olympics.

What's hard to see is he's living with autism.

Most of the time, Irving experiences an uncontrollable tick, but not when he's shooting.

"When I get ready to shoot it's basically like I have to stay still," said Irving.

"It was one of the most amazing things you've ever seen. The tics stop, and he was able to concentrate and shoot," said rifle team instructor Robert Wint.

Irving's rifle team placed ninth in the country this year among hundreds of other schools. He is set to graduate next week.
