WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Four families got homes this weekend in Winston-Salem that weren't there a week ago.

The home builders association of Winston-Salem and Habitat for Humanity teamed up for the Builders Blitz. They put up four houses on West 23rd Street.

Habitat paid for the land, and the builders donated the time and materials.

On Sunday, they gave the new owners their keys.

"Woo thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. It's something I have always wanted to be and I thought it couldn't be done. I didn't want it to be done. But it just feels good. I just can't even describe the feeling that I feel right this minute,” said Jovita Thomas, a new homeowner.

The homeowner will pay mortgages on their new homes

That money will fuel future builds and some of these homeowners will help with them.
