For sports fans, there's nothing more exciting than watching your favorite team compete for the championship. And now that the Utica Comets have made it to the Calder Cup finals, fans are showing their supporting by pulling out their wallets. Alana LaFlore shares how the run is boosting business.

UTICA, N.Y. -- From lanyards, to pens and jerseys -- Comets fans are buying out the Aud's store.

"I wanted to get them before anyone else did," said Tim O'Connor in reference to the hockey gear he's already picked up. "You can see, there's none available now."

Sales have increased along with the team's success, all the way to the Calder Cup finals.

"We've sold out quite a few games, actually we sell out almost every game," said Kelly Ecsh, merchandise director for the Utica Comets.  "And then I just make a call to replenish. I had 1,000 [t-shirts] before Wednesday's game and this is what's left."

Fans are asked to wear white to playoff and finals games, to white out the Aud, showing off their pride and support. Many did some shopping before heading to their seats Friday, getting gear for next game.

"I bought a Calder Cup finals shirt and coaster pucks," said Sandy Restivo. "Big team supporter. Been a season ticket holder for two years, and Go Comets!"

"Herb Phillipsons and Walmart are all selling stuff," said O'Connor. "So it's not just the store, it's the community."

Apparel that's traveled with the team.

"I had friends who went to New Hampshire last week and they said there weer about 1000 Comets fans out there," said O'Connor. "So it's good and watching it stream on tv you can see all the Comets gear -- it's great."

And the home store is planning ahead, keeping fans dressed as the Comets move forward.

"And when we win I will order more champion hats and shirts a take it from there," said Esche.

A confidence and pride that, win or lose, grows with every game.
