CEDAR POINT, N.C. -- "Quiet, peaceful, and relaxing," said David Morse, visitor.

That's exactly how it feels as folks experience the newly renovated Cedar Point Campground site at Croatan National Forest.

"A lot of good improvements they've done. I've been kinda waiting for them to open up the gates where we can come in here and enjoy time. It's good money spent. We need more places like this to go to...to camp and spend time with family and friends," said David Morse, visitor.

The $700,000 dollar project includes new fixtures, bathrooms, septic and water systems.

And, It's clear to management that folks are appreciating it.

Tashunda williams, Recreation Program Manager, said: "The public loves it. We're so grateful that they had patience with us and gave us the time to do what we need to do. I'm glad they love the area."

Along with new grills and new tables, having enough space is helpful too.

"It's a shame that we don't have more campgrounds like this here that we can go to because it gets real crowded," said Morse.

"You go to a lot of commercial type campgrounds and you got another camper about five feet from yours. This is pretty nice. My neighbor is only bout 75 yards away," said Dave Turner, visitor.

The campground site has only been open for a couple days and folks are already making reservations.

"Since it's been open on the 15th for Memorial Day weekend, we've been booked! We're going to be booked for the next month and half," said Williams.

Now that the project is pretty much completed, folks can experience vacation at its best.

"You don't have to worry about your kids. They can play and enjoy themselves. Just get away from the world and have some quiet time," said Morse.
