BRIGHTON, N.Y. -- Two devastating earthquakes in Nepal inspired a tranquil moment of remembrance Wednesday at Monroe Community College

Some faculty and staff held a walking meditation around noon. The silent walk, lasted about 45 minutes ending by a pond at the Memorial Garden.

Audra Dion was in Nepal about a year and a half ago on a SUNY-led leadership trek in the Himalayas.

"Some of the devistation that I see on the news, I've been to those places.  I've had dinner with these families in these homes so it really is strikingly deep for me," Dion said.

Various fundraisers on campus raised nearly $1,000 for relief efforts in Nepal.
