HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.- Runners and loved ones will remember a Holly Springs man who was hit by a car while jogging.
Derek Davis, 37, was jogging with his wife at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive last week when he was hit. He died Monday.

Sneakers have been tied to this pole as a way for people to pay their respects for him and his love for jogging.
Derek Davis was jogging with his wife last Monday morning around 6:30 p.m when he was hit by a car.
The 18 year-old driver Roberto Solis-Reyes is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, among other charges.
Since the crash, there has been an outpouring of support for the Davis family.
The Holly Springs Run Club is holding a run Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Runners will leave from Bombshell Beer Company on Quantum Street and will end at the site of the accident at Holly Springs Road and Linksland Drive.
A visitation for Davis will be held tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Apex Funeral Home on West Williams Street. The funeral will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Bryan Drive in Apex.
