UTICA, N.Y. -- A new children's book is changing the perspective of a certain breed of dog, while also teaching children valuable life lessons in dealing with other people.
Karma: Plight of the Friendly Pit came out this week.
The author, Nicholas Priore, came up with the idea when he saw how many people were afraid of Karma. But Priore says Karma is a friendly, non-violent dog.
In the book, the pitbull is a metaphor for overcoming prejudice. Karma’s tail spins quickly and she uses it to propel herself and rise up over hate.
“A lot of people have, sort of stigmas attached to them, that sort of repel other people and frighten other people. When really there’s nothing to be afraid of," said Pirore.
A portion of all proceeds go to local animal rescues. And, if you would like to check out the book for yourself, head to this link.
