CHARLOTTE --Former Director of the CIA David Petraeus will be in Charlotte on Thursday for sentencing.
Court documents say the four star general gave his mistress and biographer Paula Broadwell eight notebooks which contained classified information, in August of 2011.
Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker who worked with Petraeus in Iraq in 2003 was interviewed by Broadwell as part of her thesis.
Swecker says Petraeus was an intelligent and humble general who made a potentially dangerous mistake.
"In theory there was some potential danger to our country if it identifies covert operatives, strategies that were under consideration at the time. It could have. In retrospect it probably didn't," said Swecker.
Court documents say none of the classified information from the notebooks appeared in Broadwell's book about Petraeus.
Time Warner Cable News will have complete live, team coverage of the sentencing hearing on Thursday.
