NEW YORK CITY -- A member of the Syracuse University Women's Track and Field team has died in New York City.
According to the New York Daily News, 21-year-old Sabrina Cammock was found dead in her hotel room Saturday morning. The report claims that Cammock was sharing the room with a group of friends. It also says there were no signs of trauma and no drugs were found in the room.Medical examiners say more tests are needed to determine what caused the death of a Syracuse University runner.
Cammock, originally from Queens, was a senior at SU studying public health at the David B. Falk College of SPort and Human Dynamics.
In a note sent to students, faculty and staff, Senior Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz said:
"It is a painful time for our entire campus community whenever we are faced with a tragedy such as this."
Chancellor Syverud, on behalf of the full Syracuse University community stated:
"[Syracuse University] extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to Sabrina's family, friends, and loved ones during this very difficult time. We mourn as a campus community with all those whose lives Sabrina touched."
